In July 2022 I set out on my own! As Crystalheart Digital I‘ve assisted large eCommerce clients with their Salesforce Commerce Cloud deployments and advised small business and nonprofits on best practices for their online stores.
Lush Cosmetics North AmericaWeb Development Manager

20212022
In this role I managed an Agile-based team of Web developers and QA analysts to develop and maintain Lush North America‘s webstore using Salesforce Commerce Cloud! Highlights include planning and launching a same-day courier shipping service from stores as well as a monthly subscription box service.
Lush Cosmetics North AmericaFull-Stack Web Developer

I was also a full-stack developer on that team! I worked across the stack in this role, building and launching buy-online-pick-up-in-store functionality and leading the development on a full rebuild of an in-house OMS-CMS-PIM system.
Lush Cosmetics North AmericaSystems Developer

20142016
Before I worked on Lush North America‘s webstore, I was responsible for the internal systems for their eCommerce fulfillment operation. This included building integrations to carriers and internal financial systems, and also time-saving tools for warehouse staff. I‘m really proud of a lot of the improvements I made that made their lives easier!

Hey Sarah, why‘d you build your site like this?

Well, I‘m glad you asked! I wanted to step outside the look of a typical developer portfolio site and evoke the spirit of late-1990s personal homepages by building an intentionally retro-styled site using contemporary tools and frameworks.I have a lot of love for the do-it-yourself ethos that drove a lot of the early Internet and wanted to capture that feeling in a way that also communicates something about who I am and what I care about.

A big part of what I care about is fun! Effective UI/UX design shouldn‘t just be clear and seamless for the user, it should also be fun to use! Even the most sober and serious Web applications should be fun to use if they‘re built thoughtfully. While I wanted to evoke a playful Y2K aesthetic, I also wanted to meet design standards that didn‘t exist in 1998. In addition to being responsive, this site is designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines.
